Urban Tree of the Year: Accolade elm

Written By: Noreen

The Society of Municipal Arborists has named the Accolade elm the Urban Tree of the Year.  This elm exhibits the best features of both of it’s parents, the Japanese and Wilson elms.  It is a vigorous grower with the familiar vase shape we remember from the American elms.  Accolade is resistant to Dutch elm disease and would make a lovely addition to a street, park or home.  For lots more info and photos:  http://www.urban-forestry.com/assets/documents/accoladeelm.pdf
